Sam Vokes completes deadline day transfer to Stoke City
A massive congratulations to Sam from every at KeySports after completing his transfer from Burnley to Stoke City today.
29 year-old Welsh International has put pen to paper on a 3.5 year deal at the Bet 365 Stadium.
Manager Nathan Jones said: “Sam is a player of real pedigree, he has been promoted from this level and he’s an experienced international and Premier League player.
“To get it done is something totally different to anything we have and we think he’s a marquee player for this level.
Chief Executive Tony Scholes added: “Sam’s record speaks for itself and we are delighted to have been able to bring him to the Club. He will bring a different aspect to the attacking options at Nathan’s disposal.”
Southampton born Sam began his career just along the south coast at Bournemouth, progressing through the academy and into the first team where he played over 50 games for the Cherries. A move to Wolves followed where he won promotion and gained Premier League experience for the first time.
After numerous loans, Sam was signed by Burnley in 2012 and as they say the rest is history. Another successful promotion campaign with the clarets followed in the 2013/14 season, a season where Sam firmly put his name on the map by scoring 21 goals in 44 matches.
In total Sam has played over 250 games for Burnley scoring 62 goals, 17 of those scored in the Premier League.
He first represented Wales in 2007, in a match against Northern Ireland. He was also selected in Wales’ squad for Euro16 and scored the final goal in a 3-1 quarter final win against Belgium.
