Reece James completes transfer to Doncaster Rovers

Congratulations to Reece James who completed his transfer from Sunderland AFC to League 1 rivals Doncaster Rovers. Reece has signed a 2-year deal at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Reece’s move comes off the back of a positive season on Wearside, the versatile full-back pulled on the famous red and white stripes 27 times in all competitions and it would have been more had it not been for some injuries during the season.

“I had a conversation with Grant and Cliff Byrne and they sold the club to me, the ambitions they both have match mine and that is to challenge for promotion.

“That made my decision an easy one and my mind was made up that I wanted to sign for the club.

“I’m really excited about the opportunity to come to Doncaster after playing quite a lot of games last season.”

He endeared himself to the Sunderland faithful thanks to his impressive work rate and commitment to the cause but unfortunately it wasn’t enough as Sunderland fell short of promotion back into the Championship.

His performances caught the eye of Grant McCann, manager of fellow promotion hopefuls Doncaster Rovers and the Northern Irishman moved quickly to secure the services of our former Manchester United player.

Grant said: “He has a lot of experience of this league, having won promotion with Wigan then going very close with Sunderland last season.

“He was our main target for this position and I’m really pleased to have secured his services for the coming seasons.”

Reece will join fellow KeySports client Brad Halliday at the club, who joined Rovers earlier in the transfer window.

Congratulations from us all once again Reece, go and be Exceptional.
