Callum Robinson Signs for Sheffield United
Congratulations to Callum Robinson who has completed his transfer to Sheffield United from Preston North End today. The Republic of Ireland International forward has signed an 4-year-deal at Bramall Lane and will be back plying his trade on Premier League pitches once again.
Blades manager Chris Wilder remarked: “Callum fits into our structure perfectly as we look to Championship players who we feel can be successful at Premier League level.
“Callum is someone who was on our radar a number of years ago and he has progressed how we thought he would and hopefully there is plenty more to come.
“I feel Callum is a great age and what we have paid represents great value in the current market.”
A product of the Aston Villa Academy, Cal progressed from the youth squads into the first team quickly, making his Villa debut as an 18-year-old against Spurs in the League Cup. He then made his Premier League Debut in April 2014 vs Southampton at Villa Park.
A loan move to then League 1 club Preston followed in the 2014/15 season, where Cal quickly established himself as a fans favourite at Deepdale thanks to his exciting attacking style. He finished the campaign with 7 goals from 28 appearances
The following season, Cal endured a difficult loan at Bristol City which resulted in another stint at Deepdale when he joined until the end of the season. Cal picked up where he left off and added another 2 goals to his tally in a Preston shirt.
His form and popularity meant the Lancashire club had no choice to bid for Callum and they ultimately won the race for his signature when he joined them on a permanent basis for the 2016/17 season.
Fast forward 3 years and Cal has become even more of a favourite as he helped Preston to become established in the Championship and promotion conten
