Aston Villa complete permanent signing of Tyrone Mings
After a quite incredible loan spell in Claret and Blue last season, there really only had to be one place that Tyrone would be playing premier League football next season and that is Villa Park. Congratulations Tyrone!
Our man was instrumental for Dean Smith’s side as they secured promotion to the Premier League through the Championship play-offs in May. And now Villa have landed the 26-year-old on a permanent basis.
The fan favourite played a total of 18 games for the club including a 10-game winning run which catapulted the Villains into the play-off spots. During those 10 wins Ty scored 2 goals including the winner vs Blackburn Rovers.
Head Coach Dean Smith said: “We’re really pleased to have Tyrone back at Aston Villa on a permanent basis. I think everybody could see the connection that he made with the club as a whole and it is excellent news that we can continue the relationship in the Premier League.
“He will be an integral part of the squad for the new season and I look forward to working with him and helping to further develop his game.”
His success at Villa comes off the back of a difficult time at Bournemouth, he was signed by the Cherries in 2015 from Ipswich but injury problems and lack of form limited him to just 22 appearances for the south coast club over the last four years.
As we all know he rediscovered his form at Aston Villa and they have been keen to sign him permanently as they prepare for life in the Premier League. Negotiations have been ongoing during the summer and they have now struck an agreement over a price.
We couldn’t be more happier for you Ty, it’s a great club and you’ve helped it get back to where it belongs. Now it’s time to write the next chapter. Go and Be Exceptional.
