Barnes extends Deal and then joins the Baggies on loan.
It’s been a busy day for client Harvey Barnes. Our man put pen to paper on a new contract at Leicester City then immediately after he made his way down to West Bromwich Albion to complete a season-long loan move to the Championship club.
20 year old Harvey is amongst English Football’s most promising talents and joining recently relegated West Brom is seen as another positive stepping stone in his career development.
Harvey already has Championship pedigree, spending the first half of the campaign at Barnsley earning impressive reviews, before City boss Claude Puel recalled him in January.
He scored five goals and set up four more in 18 Championship starts for the Tykes last term. The previous campaign saw him score six goals in a loan spell at League One side MK Dons.
He made his Premier League debut for Leicester on his return last season, with a brief cameo against Southampton in April before coming off the bench in the final two games against Arsenal and Spurs.
West From boss Darren Moore believes Albion fans will enjoy watching a player who has tasted both Premier League and Champions League football at Leicester but has also proved his worth with loan spells in the Sky Bet Championship with Barnsley and in League One with MK Dons.
“He is an exciting young player – one that I think our supporters will enjoy watching,” he said today.
“We’ve got a lot of exciting youngsters at this club and Harvey now adds to that group.
“He’s got good experience of the Championship already and I am thrilled at the prospect of him adding his talents to our group. I couldn’t be happier that we have been able to bring him in.”
Well done Harvey, we’re looking forward to watching you at the Hawthorns very soon!
