A first loan move for Aston Villa's Callum O'Hare

Congratulations to Callum O’Hare who has joined Carlisle United on loan from Aston Villa for the remainder of the season.

The highly-rated midfielder has been the subject of much interest during this transfer window with a number of clubs trying to secure his services for the remainder of the 2019/19 season.

O’Hare, 20, came through the youth ranks at Villa Park and has been a regular on the first team bench through much of this campaign, most recently on Saturday when the Villains beat Ipswich Town on their own turf.

The highly-rated youngster has nine first appearances to his name already having appeared in four Championship fixtures last season. He was a starter this season for Villa’s FA Cup home game against Swansea City.

Carlisle United Manager Steven Pressley said: “As I said on Saturday, Callum is somebody I’ve seen a number of times because of my son’s connections with Villa.

“He’s a very good midfield player who likes to get forward, and he has a very attack-minded approach to the game.

“I think the fans will be excited by what they see of him, and this is a great chance for him to show everybody that he can have an impact with a team that is pushing for promotion.

“He’s played at Championship level for his parent club, and he’s extremely well thought of, so we think this is a very good signing for us.”

Villa assistant manager John Terry has picked out Callum O’Hare as the Young Lion that has wowed him the most this season.

He said: “I think Callum is going to be a really good player. He’s the one I have pinpointed. He floats in between us and the U23 group – and always makes a real impact. I think he’s a really good prospect here.”

Congratulations Cal, go Be Exceptional.
